Just in time for Halloween, edible insects! Yep… because eating insects is downright scary. Ain’t no way, ain’t no how am I eating insects, flavored or not!! So I had my sons friend give them a try.
Did you know: many edible insects have more protein than beef or salmon and include all of the essential amino acids, they’re a prebiotic and are rich in B12, Omega 3 and many other important vitamins and minerals.
Mini-Kickers are a big handful of roasted crickets seasoned just right. Flavors Include Cotton Candy, White Cheddar, Sundried Tomato Basil, Mexiam Mole, Mango Habanero, Lemon Meringue, Italian Lasagna, Jalapeno Garlic, Indian Curry, and Orange Creamsicle.
Cory wanted to try the Lemon Meringue first. He tried one at first and said it wasn’t too bad. Then he went in for a handful. While I was gagging, he thought they were finger-licking good, just watch the video! He said that they were very flavorful and they started out crunchy then mushy. I will have to take his word on that!
Entomophagy is the practice of eating insects. While he doesn’t practice eating bugs, he has enjoyed a mealworm now and then! After the lemon flavor, he tried the cotton candy and said it was flavorful. At Entosense, crickets are raised humanely and contain very bi-available B-12, Iron and Protein with all the essential Amino Acids. Crickets are natural, non-GMO, pesticide, and herbicide-free.
Side note: People who are allergic to shellfish may be allergic to bugs.
