Wreck-It Ralph Storybook Deluxe App

The Wreck-It Ralph movie opened this past weekend #1 at the box office to a tune of $49 million dollars, which is the largest opening in Walt Disney Animation Studios history! If you haven’t seen it yet, like me, here is the lowdown:

“Wreck-It Ralph”  is a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in which Ralph, who is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, Jr., the “good guy” star of their game—sets off on a quest to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

Like I said, I have not seen the movie yet but I did get a chance to review the new storybook app. I let my five-year-old try it out first as I do with most of the apps I review. I want to see his first reaction and how easy or hard it is for him to learn what to do within the app. This one is no exception. He loves it. Not only does it have the story but it also has a two-step game. What I mean by a two-step game is that first, you get to design and decorate a race car and then you get to pick a track and race it.

Hero’s Duty, a comic prequel to the Wreck-It-Ralph movie retelling the great adventure behind the Hero’s Duty game. This app is rated 9 and up and my five-year-old did not like this one. The comic does not have the read to me feature which makes it hard for little ones. As the panels pop up, the characters come to life then the next panel pops up, it is like a moving comic. Once all the panels on the page appear they all join together to look like a normal comic book page so you can read the story. Unless you have an older child that likes reading comics, this is not for little ones.
