During this stressful time, self-care is more important than ever. Since most spas and salons are closed right now, I wanted to share some ideas from Number 4 High-Performance Hair Care on how you can pamper-in-place:
- Try some new makeup looks and skincare treatments at home, but resist the temptation to cut your hair. If split ends are driving you crazy, try Super Comb Prep & Protect Leave-in Conditioner. This will help strengthen the hair and seal up split ends until the salons re-open.
- Relax and restore your tresses: At Number 4, our favorite pampering tip is to apply our Reconstructing Masque to damp hair and then wrap hair in a hot towel. Sit back and relax for 15-20 min and then rinse.
- Take a relaxing spa-style bath in your own home, complete with candles, lighting, and soft music. Seal in moisture by applying Hydrating Body Lotion after your bath.
- All of the extra cooking, dishes and disinfecting has likely taken a toll on your hands. Give yourself an at-home hand treatment by applying a generous amount of our Lumiere d’hiver Body Lotion to hands and put a sock (or a disposable glove if you can spare!) over each hand to seal in moisture. Leave the socks or gloves on while you Netflix and chill. Even just 10-20 minutes will help re-hydrate hands.
- Decompress from all the stress, uncertainty, and unexpected homeschooling with an at-home massage. Take turns with your spouse or roommate, giving each other a back or neck massage—Mix Fleurs de Temps Body Lotion with Fluoro5 Elixer Restore & Repair Oil for a fantastic massage lotion.
- Got bored kids at home? Enlist their help and let them get a taste of a cosmetology career by helping to groom Dad’s beard. A dollop of Fluoro5 Elixer Restore & Repair Oil is all Dad needs to spruce up his beard before his next Zoom Conference Call.
Practice and perfect a new hairstyle. Take advantage of the slower pace of life and try out those new hairstyles you’ve been eye-balling.

Funny, but I always have to look at the bottom of my computer to know the day and the date for the secret words. The days just run together….
Jeryl M. says
I have not really done anything with my hair or pamper myself.
Kelly Reading says
Used face and eye masks!
Annmarie Weeks says
I won’t touch hair – not mine, my hubby’s or my son’s. But I have been pampering myself by going thru the Starbucks drive through to get an iced chai almost every day (carefully, of course, wearing a mask!)
Jeanine Bevacqua says
I’ve been okay with my hair so far. I colored it at home, which I do anyways. I trimmed the ends just to freshen them up, but nothing more.
Jade W says
I actually dyed my hair blue! I figured it was the perfect time to try something fun.
Susan Christy says
I colored my roots with a L’Oreal touch-up kit I got from target.com and I was pretty worried about matching the color online. It worked out pretty well, but it did stain my forehead a bit.
Debbi Wellenstein says
I like my gray hair, and have no plans to color it. I use a lovely hair mask, and deep conditioners to keep it from flying away!
June S. says
We still have been getting some really cold days here and there in Illinois, so I have been taking some real hot baths at night . I rub myself down with lotion and use my Avon face & neck creams also. I feel human again after doing this at night.
Katie Bellamy says
The second week of quarantine I had my husband cut my hair. It was almost to my waist, he cut it to my shoulders. Not too bad, straight across! LOL! Just couldn’t take it!!
Tony Platz says
My daughter has been cutting our hair and she is good at it . She is now teaching her brother , We do not use dyes .
Cindy Peterson says
I have pampered myself by buying an expensive tinted dry shampoo that hopefully will help carry me over until my hair salon is open again. My hairdresser is begging me not to do home color.
