TreeSmart is dedicated to not only helping the environment but the education of our children in getting involved in the recycling process. At TreeSmart, you can find rolled-up recycled pencils, colored pencils, mechanical pencils, and newspaper/plastic rulers. The pencil case and mechanical pencils are made from reprocessed plastic, currency, or newspaper materials.
Back in 2010, TreeSmart began manufacturing in Oregon, where the production process has been refined to create a high-quality pencil crafted from recycled material in an eco-friendly environment. Whole newspaper sheets are rolled around high-quality No. 2 graphite. No toxic chemicals are used in manufacturing and the eraser tips are latex-free. A special adhesive formula binds the newsprint together into a cohesive core that is hard as wood. The pencils sharpen easily and last longer than wood pencils. And so, the TreeSmart Newspaper Pencil was born!
TreeSmart’s process for using recycled materials produces a complete line of pencil cases, school supply boxes, and mechanical pencils fabricated from potato chip bags, candy wrappers, and other snack packaging materials, keeping these non-biodegradable materials out of landfills. Mixed with recycled plastic, the products are attractive and durable.
TreeSmart’s School Recycling Program is a great way to teach children about the benefits of recycling first hand and can be an excellent Fund-raiser or Service Project for your school.

Make sure you buy more than just what’s on the list when all the supplies are on sale. I know for my high school girls they run out of things during the year, so I stock up on pens, pencils, notebooks, notecards, etc.
