“Frozen 2” has melted hearts around the world, becoming the No. 1 animated feature of all time! Available on Digital in 4K Ultra HD, HD, and Movies Anywhere on Feb. 11, and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Feb. 25.
In “Frozen 2,” the answer to why Elsa was born with magical powers is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, she sets out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In“Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In the highly anticipated sequel, she must hope they are enough.
“Frozen 2” bonus features include deleted scenes, deleted songs, Easter eggs, outtakes, and a sing-along version with lyrics to the film’s forever-infectious songs. Extras invite viewers to go behind-the-scenes to hear personal, making-of stories from the “Frozen 2” cast and crew. Fans who bring the film home early on Digital will receive two exclusive extras: an interview with songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who won an Oscar for Best Original Song (“Let It Go,” 2014) and wrote seven original songs for “Frozen 2,” and a deleted song titled “UnmeltableMe.”
Many of the filmmakers behind “Frozen” ventured to Norway. They studied fjords, architecture, and garb, among other areas—but since “Frozen 2” continues the story, taking Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven far from Arendelle, filmmakers needed to go back. And in September 2016, they did just that, embarking on a two-week trip to Norway, Iceland, and Finland. “We were deeply inspired by the beauty of these places,” says producer Peter Del Vecho. “It’s amazing to me how much of that research trip made it into ‘Frozen 2’: the fall colors of Norway and Finland, the waterfalls, the stark beauty of Iceland.”
Filmmakers also referenced old Norse myths and folklore found across the Nordic lands, discovering connections to nature that led them to what would become their story. But the key to their story was discovered—at least in part—during that epic trip. Says director Jennifer Lee, “‘Frozen 2’ is ultimately a mythic fairy tale about home and family, self-discovery, courage and the power to never give up.”
FUN FACT: Filmmakers consulted with a botanist from Oslo, Norway, to ensure their enchanted forest was made up of authentic vegetation. Among the ten varieties of trees is the aspen, which features predominantly in the film. Also featured were ground cover plants, including bearberry, crowberry, bracken fern, and fireweed— selected for their ability to contribute to the specific color palette of the enchanted forest.

I haven’t watched either of the Frozen movies yet. My grandkids and nieces absolutely love them both.

We haven’t seen it yet. My 3 year old is obsessed, but I wasn’t sure about taking her to see it in the theater (she just turned 3 in January). I am so excited to watch it at home with her! She is hard of hearing (mild to moderately deaf) and she loves the songs from Frozen 1 and sings them and says all of the characters’ names.

I have never saw any of the frozen movies. At 69 they really are not my thing. But my great niece (3) thinks Frozen is the best. I have saw the commercials at christmas ever time she would jump I want that. Or point to one and say elsa. She has dolls and a couple of frozen outfits that likes to wear.

I enjoyed Frozen, but have not yet seen Frozen II. My granddaughter is 8 and I planned to see it with her, but she has no desire to go. Evidently the monster in the first movie scared her. She also has an issue with movie theaters, she can’t tolerate the noise level and the dark. If she does go to the movies, it has to be at the special showing for autistic children and those with other sensory issues. I have found if I can get her to watch a movie at home we do much better.
