Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson) is every bit a seventeen-year-old… she’s attached to her laptop and loves her best friends. But unlike most teenagers, she spends much of her time living in a hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries, and self-control – all of which is put to the test when she meets an impossibly charming fellow patient named Will Newman (Cole Sprouse).

There’s an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction. Further complicating matters is Will’s potentially dangerous rebellion against his ongoing medical treatment. Stella gradually inspires Will to live life to the fullest, but can she ultimately save the person she loves when even a single touch is off limits? Opens in theaters March 15, 2019. Rated PG-13

I knew someone growing up who had cystic fibrosis; he was my younger sister’s friend. I know that his diagnosis was very challenging for him and for his family, as well as everyone who cared about him. He managed to live an amazingly full life which was a testament to his determination and optimism, but it was still far, far too short. Cystic Fibrosis research has come a long way–when our friend was born they didn’t think he would live past childhood, much less over 40 years–but we still have much more to learn. I hope everyone will consider donating to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (aka Sixty Five Roses).

I would really like to see this movie with my sisters. It seems like an interesting story line. I do not know anyone with cystic fibrosis.

Oh wow; I want to see this! I don’t watch many movies, and have watched very few with a YA cast (or rather, YA main characters). But this looks so interesting to me! I really hope that it comes to Netflix, or that our local public library will get a copy.
