Plates With Purpose and specifically the Perennial Hope Crocus Plate was just launched in May 2010. This particular design benefits FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered). FORCE is the only national nonprofit organization devoted to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. FORCE’s mission includes support, education, advocacy, awareness, and research specific to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Their programs serve anyone with a BRCA mutation or a family history of cancer. As is true with all Plates With Purpose products, 15% of proceeds are donated by Riverside Design Group, the company that makes the plate, to the corresponding non-profit partner for every plate purchased, in this case, FORCE.

Inspired by a breast cancer survivor, this beautiful plate is a very unique and meaningful gift that is also functional in that it is microwave and dishwasher safe. Although it is too pretty to want to eat off of. Plus the plates can also be easily engraved, making them an even more personal gift to give or to get! Why the crocus? A crocus reminds us that, in spite of harsh winters, we can endure, rebound, and overcome life’s most difficult challenges – including a breast cancer diagnosis. These gorgeous plates are handmade from recycled glass. I was lucky enough to receive one of these gorgeous plates. I gave it to my mother who has battled Breast Cancer. She loved it too. I put it on a plate stand for her so she can place it on her entertainment stand to see every day.
