I was recently chosen to receive an Ubooly Stuffed Animal. I had never heard of such a thing but I figured if it can be played with on the iPhone/iPod, then my son will enjoy it. At first, when we opened the box, he thought it was just a stuffed animal. But then I downloaded the free Ubooly App to get the magic started.
Once you “adopt your Ubooly” by downloading the app and entering your specific Ubooly code that comes with it, you can either play games on the iPhone/iPod in which new content is added every month or you click on the Ubooly image to make the Ubooly face appear. Then you need to stick the iPhone/iPod upside down into the Ubooly plush, so the speaker will be at the top for the voice recognition. The only downside is that unless your child had their own iPhone/iPod, your phone will be in use for quite a while!
Some of the activities that Ubooly can do include: telling stories, telling you jokes, saying fun facts and trivia, and playing music. When my son finally got to play with it, he took it to the couch and listened to several stories. When you double-tap the screen, you are able to enjoy another activity and Ubooly asks, ” What do want to do?”. You can either say listen to music, play a game, hear a story or tell me a joke. If you say no, Ubooly continues asking “Do you want to hear a cool fact?”, “Want to listen to some music?”, “Want to play a game?”. My son said listen to music then he came running in, “Mom…he knows my Halo music!” He was so excited that Ubooly was playing his instrumental Halo music for him.
Ubooly is geared toward children aged 4 to 9, my son is five and it is right up his alley. I think that Ubooly is a great idea, it keeps the kids entertained and the best part is that it isn’t that expensive! Ubooly runs $29.99 plus you get new content every month. I haven’t had mine that long so I have not seen any new content yet. But you can’t beat the price for a fun, interactive, and informative toy. Ubooly encourages creativity through choose-your-own-adventure stories, fun challenges, and “play-pretend” games. Ubooly also knows fun facts about history, science, and teaches kids new vocabulary.
Moms are some of the savviest mobile users and so are their kids. Ubooly is a toy designed for this new high-tech generation. While learning and sharing new content every week, Ubooly is the only toy that grows with your child. It encourages listening skills and a break from high-energy / high-stimulation play. Through stories & interactive games, Ubooly’s curiosity is sure to awaken the creativity within your child’s imagination.
Ubooly is the hot toy of the season, it’s new to the scene and is on track to sell out this winter! Free updates through Wi-Fi create ongoing entertainment for kids.
