Have you heard of a minimalist shoe? If you like walking in bare feet then read on! Your feet are made for walking, running, dancing, jumping, and cramming them into a shoe can restrict their movement. Vivobarefoot shoes offer a way for your feet to be freer in doing what they need to do while moving more naturally. Vivobarefoot Shoes are made for those that love being in bare feet but really need a shoe to be able to go places!
I received a pair of the Primus Junior Shoes in Mood Indigo for my 10-year-old son ($100) to review. As you can see, the shape of these shoes looks wildly different than a typical gym shoe. They look more like the shape of your foot with minimal padding, cushioning, and thin soles.
A child’s foot is widest across the toes, so having a shoe that allows for proper growth until the foot bones mature is best. Vivobarefoot shoes are foot-shaped to allow your feet to move like feet. They have no heel or support and the ultra-thin protective sole gives maximum sensory feedback. Plus they are super flexible, you can even roll these shoes up into a ball!
Benefits of the Vivobarefoot Shoe:
- Features Pro5: a patented, ultra-thin, puncture-resistant layer, 5x more puncture resistant than a standard sole of the same thickness.
- Breathable Mesh: Synthetic multi-ply materials, to deliver optimum lightweight breathability and comfort.
- Has the TPU Compound: Super thin, lightweight, and incredibly durable for maximum underfoot sensory clarity.
I am not going to lie, at first when my son put these on he didn’t care for them. He said, “they felt different, lighter and not as supportive as his hi-tops”, the shoes that he wears on a daily basis. I told him to give them a try for a few days while he plays outside. My son is like the energizer bunny with batteries that never die, he is constantly going and loves running around outside! He wore these when he would go outside to play and never complained once. With the breathable mesh, I think these shoes will be great for his summertime adventures!

I think they look very comfortable. Probably make you feel like you’re walking on air. Great for kids who like to be shoe-free.
