The Very Hungry Bear By We Are Wheelbarrow
UPDATE April 2018: This app is no longer available but you can check out our other app reviews.
When I came across this app, I fell in love with the illustrations. This is the latest book from Australian author Nick Bland, the first is ‘The Very Cranky Bear’. I have not heard of this series before, but I am definitely going to look for the books now! When the Very Hungry Bear goes fishing, he catches more than fish…he catches a polar bear who has an armful of fish, and needs help finding a new home! This is an adorable rhyming story! My five year old has listened to it several times now and enjoys tapping the screen to watch the bears do different actions.
With each page, you can click on the bear to make him do different actions and hear fun sounds. You can also collect fish hidden throughout the book to unlock a SPECIAL SECRET interactive! I won’t ruin that surprise for you.
You can read aloud and record your own audio, or choose to have the book read to you by Australian actor, Angus Sampson.
This app is available for both iPhone and iPad and runs $5.49.
About We Are Wheelbarrow: They are fairly new, they were founded in 2011 by author Nick Bland, director Tim Kentley, producer Adrian Shapiro and publishing titan Matt Tanner. Wheelbarrow launched its debut title “The Very Cranky Bear” in December which became a featured best seller in the Apple App Store.

We love book apps here in our house. My 4.5 year old, brings our iPad in the car all the time to “read” books and play games. Thanks for sharing this one with us.
