My son has recently discovered flavored carbonated water. While he likes pop we do not like him having all that sugar, we do limit those drinks by just not bringing them into the house. So having the SodaStream certainly has come in handy. SodaStream offers a variety of home carbonation systems so you can make drinks at home, as an alternative to purchasing pre-packed bottles or cans.
With so many flavors available, there is a flavor for all of us. We received several full size mixes to try with our new machine. The system itself was easy to set up. It comes with a CO2 carbonator which needs to be installed. Then you are ready to go. Fill your bottle with cold water, then lock it into place. With our model, The Source, when you press down on the unit you see three levels of carbonation through the LED water drop fizz indicator. When the water drops light up this lets you know how much carbonation you are adding. You need about a cap full of the SodaMix to pour into the bottle. You can use more or less depending on how you want it to taste. My son uses 1 capful of the Kool-Aid to get it to the flavor he likes.
SodaStream offers over 100 different SodaMix flavors. From the traditional soda flavors to Kool-Aid, Country Time Lemonade, Crystal Light, Ocean Spray, Sparkling Naturals, Energy Drinks, Happy Hour Cocktail Mixes and MyWater Flavor Essence. The Source comes with a SodaMix Taste Sampler that includes 6 flavors. As you can see, we also received a mix of several different full sized flavors. The one flavor we didn’t get was the SodaStream Happy Hour. These are non-alcoholic sparkling cocktail mixers, ready to be mixed with your favorite spirits. I would like to try the Strawberry Daiquiri, which I will be on the lookout for at the store. The kids liked the Kool Aid the best, which is also available in grape and cherry.
The Sparkling Naturals line, the `better for you’ soda, is made from cane sugar and other all-natural ingredients. Sparkling Naturals contain no artificial flavors, no artificial colors and no artificial sweeteners, and do not contain any preservatives, making them a perfect, sparkling, natural soda alternative for the entire family. We received the Sparkling Naturals Ginger Ale and have made this a few times now for upset stomachs.
Overall we really like our SodaStream. We have had to already replace the CO2 cartridge. 1 60L CO2 carbonator makes up to 60 liters. You can exchange the empty carbonators for a full one, paying only the cost of a gas refill. Our refill cartridge was $15 at Bed Bath and Beyond, with a coupon but I have also seen them at Target and Walmart.
