If you have ever watched a Nicholas Sparks movie then you know that you are going to tear up! Just how many of these tear gushers have YOU seen? Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, Nights in Rodanthe, Dear John, The Last Song, and The Lucky One.
Safe Haven was different though. This movie had two twists to it. First is that that there is an antagonist but you don’t quite know how he fits into the story with the character Katie. But you do know that he is an alcoholic and not a very nice guy. And second, it wasn’t a tear-jerker. Definitely still a “chick flick” but not one that would make you sad cursing Nicholas Sparks with, “Why…why did that have to happen!” Here is the synopsis of the movie:
When a mysterious, beautiful woman named Katie, moves to Southport, North Carolina, she sparks the interest of the locals, especially Alex (Duhamel), a handsome widower. Although she is attracted to Alex, Katie is reluctant to trust him – that is until a new friend (Cobie Smulders) convinces her to give Alex a chance. But before long, a dark secret from Katie’s past threatens her happiness.
I received the Blu-ray version that included several extras including an alternate ending. I will say do not get too excited about that. I was expecting something totally different to happen. That did not happen. SPOILER ALERT: The real ending was just a shortened version of the alternate ending. Same ending! My favorite extra scene was watching the *dreamy* Josh, go crabbing.

Sounds like you have the makings of a great girls night in…movie, food, drinks. Sounds great. I like your drink ideas, too. Gin isn’t a staple in our liquor area at home so I will have to make sure to pick some up.
