This was my first visit to The Rusty Bucket, a local “joint” about 20 minutes away. I took my father in law there for his birthday along with the kiddos. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I did see some great menus items online.
They were founded in 2002 in Columbus, OH, and have several locations in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. The Rusty Bucket Restaurant & Tavern was nationally recognized by Cheers Magazine for its beer program and staff training program in 2012!
As soon as we walked in, we were immediately seated. We got there about 11:30, and that was a good thing, as they fill up quickly with the lunch crowd! When you walk in, the large bar is smack dab in your face. You need to walk behind it for the dining area. The place is decked out with local team memorabilia and T.V’s airing all kinds of sports.
The menu is extensive, and their new line of artisan pizza’s looked amazing, too bad no one wanted to split one with me.
The menu also included the 10th anniversary of Rusty Bucket in which the restaurants were featuring a “throwback menu,” where they brought back some of their popular dishes for a limited time through the end of July.
Here is a rundown of what we ordered:
Chicken Fingers and Fries – They were beer battered, the only way to truly eat chicken fingers!
Macaroni ’n Cheese – Swiss and American cheeses with elbow macaroni, topped with panko bread crumbs and oven-baked until golden brown. It was served with garlic cheese bread. My father in law ordered this; he said that “It is good, but not as good as mine!”
Chicken Parmesan – This seasoned panko-crusted chicken breast was topped with marinara sauce, provolone cheese & served with pasta alfredo also served with garlic cheese bread. My mother in law ordered this and couldn’t finish it all. It was a very hearty meal for lunch.
Rusty Bucket Wings – Covered in Sweet Chili Joe’s Regular Chipotle Sauce. My eight year old ordered this with a medium sauce, which was a first for him. He was able to eat two of the five wings before giving up. “My lips are on fire, mom.” Our server was kind enough to toast him some small buns for him to eat to put out that fire!
The Rusty Bucket Burger with American Cheese – My oldest’s staple food, a burger. He shoveled it in pretty fast so I assumed that he liked it!

Italian Torpedo – Grilled Italian sausage topped with capicola ham, salami, provolone, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, pepperoncini & Italian dressing. I ordered this minus the lettuce, tomato, and onion. This was so good, a little kick to it with Italian sausage. I have never had an Italian sandwich with sausage. I would definitely get this again.

The Rusty Bucket is offering a great reading program: Kids can read five books to earn a complimentary kid’s meal. Parents can list the books on the bookmark and sign off on it for the free meal. A Bucketeer Bookworms bookmark can be picked up at your local Rusty Bucket.
