While attending the Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3 Premiere Event in LA, I met Papi and Chloe and asked the dynamic duo about their fame.
Papi: Are you kidding? I love my job! And there’s no better feeling than putting in a hard day’s work at something you love.
Chloe: I’m with Papi. We’re not the type of dogs who like to sleep all day, so when we’re not filming, we actually get kind of bored! But when we’re not on set, we always love playing with our co-stars- canine and human; we don’t discriminate.
Q: Chloe, you wear such a gorgeous necklace in the film. Can you tell me more about that?
Oh, thank you! It’s a personal favorite of mine, too. As a working mother of five, even a fashionista like me doesn’t always have time to look glam. But it’s nice to know that even when I’m covered in dirt, slime, or whatever else Papi Jr digs up, I can count on my necklace to keep me looking like a lady!
Q: For both Papi & Chloe, where are you from, and how did you get into acting?
Papi: Oh man, acting saved my life! Literally! When my human padre- who’s also my trainer- was casting for the role of Papi, he found me in the shelter and rescued me right before things got ugly (he adopted me in the last few hours the shelter gave me to find a home- talk about a close call! Ay, Chihuahua!) They say in LA that the waitress serving the table next to you could be the next big movie star. Well, so can the Chihuahua pooping in the kennel next to you. So the next time you’re looking for a canine companion, don’t forget to stop at your local shelter or you could be missing out on a real star!
Chloe: One of the fabulous executives at Disney has a home filled with dogs and realized that her Chihuahuas were bossing around her Pit Bulls! Humans sometimes see little dogs as weak or coddled, and the first Beverly Hills Chihuahua is about a pampered, coddled dog who discovers her inner bark. Well, with my glimmering coat and, shall we say, “movie star” attitude, I fit the part. And I’m glad I did because I’ve come a long way since that first movie. Now that I’ve found my inner bark, I won’t hesitate to use it!
Q: What was the toughest part of filming BHC3?
Papi: Running into Sebastian when he’s had less than 18 hours of sleep. There are a lot of divas in Hollywood, but trust me, you don’t know the meaning of the word till you’ve met a pug who’s declared war on wrinkles.
Chloe: Um, the lavender pawdicures? The gourmet meals? This is a trick question, right?
Q: Do you see a fourth in the future?
Chloe: Never say never!
Papi: Every day is an adventure for the Cortez crew. As far as I’m concerned, we’re just getting started!

Just this past Tuesday, Giggy Vanderpump, the Real Housedog of Beverly Hills, was spotted having tea at owner Lisa Vanderpump’s Villa Blanca with Beverly Hills Chihuahua stars Papi and Chloe! Fellow restaurant guests said that the intimate gathering was an impromptu get-together to celebrate the release of on DVD/Blu-ray. Sources said that the real-life couple, Papi and Chloe, seemed very much in love with lots of public licking and paw-holding. Jenni Pulos’ pup, Janet, also dropped by to lift a teacup to the release.
