Martha Speaks Dog Party By PBS KIDS
For a limited time get $1.00 off Martha Speaks Dog Party in support of PBS KIDS Raising Readers Room Summer Literacy Program. App discount ends 08.05.12.
A US Dept. of Education-funded study found target vocabulary improved up to 31 percent for children ages 3-7 who played this Parents’ Choice Recommended app over a two-week period. This app was fun for my five-year-old to play. Not only because he loves “doggies” but they were talking doggies to boot! There are four games that are included.
CHOW TIME
With this game, Martha asks which plate she is looking for and if you don’t know she will give you a hint. Then the food appears on the plate and you need to take the dogs tongue by moving your finger to lick off the plate.
MARTHA SAYS
This party game is like Simon Says, and you need to listen for when Martha says, “Martha Says” to do the activities like walk or run. Some of the words that are introduced are given definitions too, so the kids know what to do.
DOGGIE DRESS UP
In this game, you get to accessorize the four different dogs. You can even take pictures of the dressed-up pooch. And again, with this app, different words are introduced.
POP QUIZ
Players take this balloon-popping quiz to reinforce and test their knowledge of the vocabulary words.
