I received this cute learning game from Educational Insights called Grandma’s Trunk Alphabet Game. It states on the box 5 and up but my four-year-old already knows his alphabet and has for awhile so this would be great for maybe 3.5 on up. There are different ways to play and all the cards have pictures along with the letter. The cards are a hard sturdy card so they won’t tear that easy.

I like that the game cards come in a hard box for easy storage. There is even a divider to separate the cards.

Grandma’s Trunk Alphabet Game come with instructions for 5 different ways to play.

1. What Comes Next? Take turns placing the letter cards in the trunk in alphabetical order.

2. Memory Time Take turns repeating the sequence of cards already in the trunk, then adding one of your own and challenging other players to remember them all, in order.

3. Grandma’s Riddles Deal the cards, then read a riddle and race to see who has the letter card that answers it!

4. Letter Sequence Memory Deal the cards and take turns putting them in the trunk in alphabetical order, repeating the items already in the trunk and challenging other players to remember them all, in alphabetical order.

5. Grandma’s Adventures Place the letter cards in the trunk and take turns pulling them out to create a cooperative story: “Once upon a time there was a grandma. She saw an iguana.”

I placed all the picture cards on the floor and spread them all out. Then we started off by me reading the riddle and my son looking at the cards without the letter on it (one side has the letter and picture the other side just has the picture) to find what picture would match. Then I asked him what letter that picture started with. I think this a cute game for little ones to play when they are starting out learning their letters! What a great learning game.
