My 8 yr old son loves dinosaurs and robots so this toy (for him) was a winner. It came with 213 pieces in the set and created one dinosaur. I thought by the way it was advertised on the front of the box that you could make three different dinosaurs. It not only said 3 dinosaurs, but it also shows pictures of three dinosaurs too. But again, it only gives instructions for one.
The instructions were pretty easy to read. They had everything one step at a time right till the end. Dad only had to help him with a few pieces too; they were ones that connected together too tightly for my son’s motor skills. But 98% of it was done by just my son and it took about 1 hour in total.
The K’NEX Beasts Alive Bronto dinosaur comes with a motor, so not only did he put the set together, but he got to see how the motor would hook up to power the legs that move both forward and backward. Great switch on the motor too, it will actually hold up while he plays with it for the next few months. It also snaps together well too, so the dinosaur has not come apart while he is playing with it.
The dinosaur is about one foot tall when it is complete and from tail to head about 1 ½ ft. It fits well on his dresser and again, it is strong enough that if it falls from the dresser, it is not going to fall apart in a million pieces. (It does require 2 AA batteries.)
I have to say K’NEX never surprises me with their toys. Always well-made and a great value!

My son would go nuts over this. He has several KNEX products, but these beasts would really make him happy!

That looks like a really great toy. I like that your son could put it together almost all by himself. My 8 year old would like it too. Thanks for the review.
