“When you became a “Friend of Mel”, you became a friend for life. She considered you not only friends but an extended part of the family. This was also true of the doctors, nurses and many patients she came to know while receiving treatment at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center.
Sadly, Mel lost her battle almost five years to the day she was diagnosed. But not before leaving her mark on every person who had the good fortune to cross her path. Mel taught us how to live, how to laugh and how to love. That was her legacy – and that was our gift.”
FriendsofMel.org – The Friends of Mel was started to honor a woman, Mel, who died from breast cancer. In three short years, Friends of Mel has raised and donated $2M to help patients, fund education and conduct research. Today, the bracelets are worn in all 50 states. There are some heartfelt stories from people and organizations that have directly benefited. Charities can also sell the bracelets themselves and receive $5 or $10 (depending on which bracelet is sold) for each one.
Make a donation of $15 and receive the Original Bracelet
You can also donate $45 to receive the “Special Edition” bracelet with genuine Swarovski Crystals.
I received both of these bracelets and they are beautiful. My Mother in Law and her Sister will be wearing these proudly and can’t wait to share their story, along with Mel’s.
