I recently went and saw the Good Dinosaur with my children. Honestly, I didn’t think I would enjoy this movie because it appeared to be pretty juvenile, however, my opinion definitely changed after watching it.
The Good Dinosaur is a charming movie with several adorable characters. Arlo was born into his family with a couple of challenging issues. Arlo had to deal with these obstacles throughout his life. Buck and Libby, Arlo’s siblings, teased and gave him a hard time because he was different. This made Arlo sad and upset with himself. I think this type of behavior happens in many families. This movie demonstrates how powerful our actions and words are and how they can affect the people we love.
Arlo has many fears. He tries to overcome these fears but really struggles with them. Arlo’s dad tries to help him with the anxiety/fears so that Arlo can function in life and help his family too. The movie provides a couple of touching/beautiful moments during this time.
Unfortunately, tragedy strikes Arlo’s family. Many twists and turns occur during this part of the movie. Arlo is forced into an unexpected journey that ends up changing his life forever. During this adventure, he meets a human friend. His name is Spot. Spot helps Ariel face his fears and obstacles in life. Spot helps Ariel realize he is capable of much more than he ever realized. Their friendship grows stronger and stronger throughout the movie. They face many situations together and are always there for one another.
Arlo rises above his fears and resolves the issues he has with his own family.
I recommend this movie because Arlo’s situation relates to many of us. People have fears, obstacles, and struggles in life that can be very challenging to overcome. With the help and encouragement of friends and family, people can often face these situations.
My family really ended up enjoying The Good Dinosaur. It’s a movie filled with laughter, life lessons, and emotions. I will admit, even a few tears were shed during this movie!
