Dinosaur Train Camera Catch! By PBS KIDS

Dinosaur Train Camera Catch! In this app, you need to tilt and move your device around the room to find the flying dinosaurs. But not just any old Dino will work, you need to find the right dinosaur to complete the pattern. When you see it in the viewfinder, you snap a picture of it and it will save the images in the gallery. With each round, the pattern gets more advanced. You are able to view the pictures that you have taken of the Dinosaurs in the gallery.  Players who complete all of the rounds successfully also win a code for a special prize they can unlock on pbskids.org!

This app is rated for kids 4+. It didn’t hold my five-year-old’s interest for too long. It is not that exciting, as you have to wait for the “right” Dino to appear so you can finish the pattern.

Dinosaur Train Eggspress By PBS KIDS

Dinosaur Train Eggspress travels back in time to all 3 time periods; Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous eras. In each era, you must complete different tasks. You will find hidden eggs, practice matching and help momma dinosaurs find their baby eggs. In the end, you will have pictures of all your Dinosaur’s in a Dinosaur Baby Book. There are 20 Dinosaur Spices that are talked about.

Collect the missing dinosaur eggs that are scattered all over the landscape. In this game, you need to use your finger to swipe over the scenery to find the eggs.

You’ll need to move the eggs into the right nests in three rounds of play. First, sort by color. Next, match patterns and shapes. And, finally, both colors and patterns will come into play.

Two dinosaur mommies have found an egg, but which is the right one? The mommies are two different species of dinosaurs! Use clues and hints suggested by the Conductor to choose the right species and reunite the egg with its mommy.

After winning three baby dinosaurs, one for each mini-game, you can color them in your Dinosaur Baby Book. The magic paintbrush will fill the dinosaur with the actual colors that paleontologists believe were unique to that species. You are able to save your pictures to your Photos app too.

This app held my son’s attention quite a bit longer. There was more to do, 3 different games and a “magic coloring page” to keep him busy. You do need to complete the era that you are in before moving on to the next, so there is no jumping around to the different games. My son loves Dino’s so this was a great game for him. Plus he watches the show and has the dinosaurs toys from the show so this is a great addition to the Dinosaur Train franchise.
