I had not heard of Discovery Trekking Outfitters before I received one of their fast-drying towels. What amazed me was the size. As you can see, it is almost 1/3 the thickness of a standard swimming towel, and this is a large-sized towel! Discovery Trekking also offers a medium, small, and extra small-sized towel available in a dozen different colors.
How Does It Do It?
Discovery Trekking’s Ultra Fast-Dry Towels are ultra-lightweight and made with a special style of Polartec® Power Dry® style. “Touchpoints” on the fabric’s inner surface literally suck moisture around the fibers, where it spreads for rapid evaporation. Polartec® Power Dry® fabrics move at least 30% more moisture away from the skin than single-component fabrics. When the moisture reaches the outside of the fabric, it spreads out to its original surface area many times, enabling it to dry much faster than other fabrics.
When I first saw this, I thought it would be great for my son, who goes on many campouts. I loved the idea that it could fold up as small as it does, something he needs to save on space in his backpack. We have been using this for a few months now, and we both like it. It does not feel like a regular towel; it has a stretchy feel. It might not look absorbent, but let me tell you that it is! We have used it for a Boy Scout campout and at the pool. This towel dries three times faster than a cotton towel! After many washes, it still is super absorbent and the color has not faded.

This towel is really interesting. When I first saw your pictures, I thought the towel looked like a winter blanket or a thinner heating blanket. It’s amazing how much thinner it is than your standard towel. I think this towel would be great for us because we have a pool in our backyard and when we have people over, an assortment of wet towels quickly piles up. I also really like that these towels block up to 93% of UV rays. That is awesome!

I love technology! I am going to buy a few of these because we go to the pool indoors in Illinois during the cold months for reprieve and exercise, but when my son uses the towel once, it is wet the rest of the time we are there with no sun to help it dry.
