Friendship doesn’t always go according to plan in Friends with Kids, a story of a close-knit group of friends who have their relationships tested when parenthood enters the picture.
The newly released Friends with Kids Blu-ray Disc and DVD is loaded with bonus features, including a gag reel featuring some of today’s most celebrated actor/comedians, deleted scenes, a “making of” featurette, and an audio commentary. This all-star ensemble cast features the following onscreen couples: Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Chris O’Dowd, as well as the couple the story centers on — the group’s two best friends, Jennifer Westfeldt (the film’s writer and director) and Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation).
The so-called comedy is about a close-knit circle of friends whose lives change once they have kids. The last two singles in the group observe the effect that kids have had on their friends’ relationships and wonder if there’s a better way to make it work. When they decide to have a child together and date other people, their unconventional “experiment” leads everyone in the group to question the nature of friendship, family, and, above all, true love.
Have you heard the expression: It’s Funny Because It’s True? I wanted to see this in the theater when it came out but never got the chance. I watched this the other day and enjoyed it. It really wasn’t what I was expecting: a comedy. While there were funny parts, it was more of a drama mixed with reality. Being that I am a mom of three and all my friends have kids, this movie hits key points. But it is not one you would want to see on a date, and if you can get your husband to watch it, then kudos to you.
