The Crock-Pot Express is a pressure cooker, slow cooker, can sauté, and steamer all in one. It has a six qt non-stick pot that sits inside and is very easy to clean up! It offers pre-set buttons on the front for easy usage. You can also pre-set it to start cooking at a specific time, which is excellent for work. Not to mention, you can start chicken later than normal so it is not chewy and overcooked by the time you get home!
The removable inner pot and the fact that it is a non-stick coating makes it very easy to clean! However, It is not easy to store. It is about 12 inches wide and 13 1/2 inches tall! I have not figured out where to store mine yet. The cooker itself will fit under my shelves on my island, but the lid will have to come off because it is another 1 ½ inches tall. That in itself takes up more space than what I have room for. I might have to consider storing the lid sideways next to the cooker.
Crock-Pot Express has several ways you can choose to cook your food. They are as follows:
Pressure Cooker – I used the pressure cooker on some ribs. They took about one hour, which is much faster than the oven! But if you want them to have a crispy crust, you have to bake them in the oven, which takes about 10-15 minutes. Still lots faster than the 2-hour mark, though! They were delish!
Slow Cooker: The crockpot recipe I used had rice and chicken it in. There was not a difference in taste between this crockpot and my old one. They worked about the same. One big difference between the new one and my old one is that the pot’s diameter is different. So when I put my chicken in this new crockpot, it was sitting higher since my old crockpot is about 10 inches in diameter. I thought that would make a difference because, in the new crockpot, the chicken is “under” the chicken broth, but it did taste different.
Sauté: The veggies turned out soft but not a crisp like my skillet. Not a big fan of using it to Sauté items. I feel like when you sauté the veggies need to be crispy and not “floppy” and/or soft.
Rice Cooker: Great fluffy rice. It made the rice very light and airy in 6 minutes! I can’t get this from the stove! However, it was actually 16 minutes. See * below.
Steamer: BEST steamed potatoes EVER!! They had all the right stuff, tender-not mushy, the water was all the way thought the potato, so it was completely cooked unlike when I microwave the potato, and only some of it is good and other parts are hard. I even put butter on them before steaming, and the butter taste seems to penetrate the skin. The time is longer than a microwave, but the outcome is so much better than it is solid! Totally worth it!
Warming: Unexpected bonus. I did not realize that once something is finished cooking, the pot automatically keeps it warm for 4 hours. I was never that late getting the food out, but imagine when I thought dinner was going to be cold since I pulled it out 20 min late, and it was still warm!
Easy Release Function: With the steam dial, your hand stays clear of the hot steam, so there is no fear of getting burned!
The recipe book that comes with it shows how to make yogurt, cheesecake, and even a chocolate type of cake! I did not try those recipes, so I cannot report on how it does will dairy products or baked goods. But the book is easy to read and actually had good recipes that I feel I would eat. I did use it to figure out how to set time on some of my meals. It walks you through how much time and what pre-set button to press, etc.… However, you have to be careful of the time frames it sets the meals for. For example, *If you make rice, the recipe shows that it takes 6 minutes. However, you have to make sure there is a natural release of pressure before you open the crockpot express up, so you don’t burn yourself from the steam. This can take up to 10 minutes! So I feel that the cook times allude to being quick, but that is not always the case because of the pressure release time.

I just got a multicooker! I’ll be checking out these recipes, and I’m glad to hear it makes fluffy rice, even if it takes ten extra minutes for pressure release, because I stink at cooking real rice!

I have been wanting a insta pot and this really sounds good. It will do so much!
BUT then I read the line of where to store it. I never thought about the size of it. I am thinking I am not going to get one because of storage
