Punky Dunk and the Gold Fish By Dumfun Productions
Punky Dunk was a black and white fat cat who slept in a box full of straw, and who wanted to change his meal to a nice plump fish! So the mischievous cat looked at the goldfish as they swam. What happens next?
Help the goldfish teach Punky a valuable lesson in this sweet, hand-drawn homage to a lost centennial classic. Great interactive features include; tapping, swiping, spinning and tilting the iPad.
My five-year-old was not a big fan of this app. I think while this was a cute story, the music was calming and it seemed to go at a slower pace. He’s a five-year-old boy, who loves more action in his apps. This would make for a cute bedtime story though or even a cat lover. The app is in both English and Spanish and in a rhyming fashion.
Matthew Modine & Kate del Castillo voice this century-old tale of a curious cat. “Punky Dunk is a charming series of children’s tales. The artist Kat Llewellyn wanted to develop them in this unique electronic way,” says Modine. “The idea of turning these into interactive apps seemed like an exciting way to get children involved in reading, which was invaluable to me growing up.”
The storybook app was designed by Dumfun Productions as part of the Punky Dunk Project, to develop imaginative and dynamic learning experiences for young readers. The app has been hand-animated to digitally reflect the illustrations and watercolors of the original print edition, published in 1912. To celebrate the book’s centennial, it features 101 interactive sounds and animations.

Love the name of the app! Even though this sounds like a great app, neither of my boys (4 & 3) would be very into it…they like more mind challenging apps (like puzzles, angry birds, etc). Thanks for the review

Thanks for the review, it’s good to know what this is like. Sounds like my 4 yr old daughter would love it and my 5 year old son would probably be too fidgety, haha! I wish they had all the ipad apps for Kindle, too!
