Everyone knows that a personalized gift is one of the best gifts to get. Show that special person in your life that they shine bright like the stars in the sky!
My son and his girlfriend had their one year anniversary recently and he thought this would be a great gift for her. The star map is comprised of the arrangement of the stars at the time, date, and location of your choosing. He choose the exact time and date of when they met. You can also personalize the print with a title like he did, One Year, and you can add a footnote or select the default that says the date, place, and time of the star location.
There are 14 different design and color options to choose from and three different sizes, 12 x 16, 18 x 24, and 24 x 26. Pictured is the 18 x 24 size.
Under Lucky Stars utilizes the Bright Star Catalog from Yale University as the main source of celestial data along with various other astronomical databases. These databases contain galactic coordination of all the stars that are visible from Earth with the naked eye. They utilize six high precision data points of over 9,000 stars to create the star map.
They will also provide accuracy of the position of a star in the sky at a particular place and time on Earth by calculating the elevation of the star, which is based on the geolocation and time coordinates from the moment you are capturing.
The star map from Under Lucky Stars features a projection of the visible sky with the cardinal directions indicated. The stars that are toward the edge of the star map were closer to the horizon during the chosen time and date while the stars found at the center were above one’s head. Each star’s size on the map is based on the apparent magnitude of the star. They also draw the visible constellations on the star map as an added feature!
The star map is printed on high-quality paper, a 240 GSM smooth fine art paper to encompass a high quality. For comparison purposes, most household printer paper is 90-100 GSM and other posters are 120-140 GSM.
I personally love the way this turned out… and so did she by the way! This would make a great gift for any date you want to commemorate.

I would pick Dec. 2, 2012 for the date. I would have to ask my daughter the exact time. This would be for my grandson’s date of birth. He is very interested in space and would think it was really cool.

The only constellation I know is the Big Dipper. We love going out on warm summer nights and watching the stars, especially when there’s a meteor shower. Our oldest daughter loves anything space related, this would be great for her. It would get one from the date & time that she was born.
