I was recently sent the My Magical Mermaid Water Wonderland for my two daughters. I thought this would be a great toy for my girls, ages 5 and 3 to play with. The box “claims” the mermaids can swim in multiple directions and that they can dip, dive and performs with lifelike movements.
Unfortunately, our mermaids did not put on any such performances. We followed all of the instructions and all our mermaids did was swim up and down the tank. It was really cool that they would swim to the bottom then stop and float back up again and again, but from what the box indicated we were expecting a little bit more. The tank the mermaids swim in is big and sturdy. I was able to fill the tank easily and get the mermaids going.
Each mermaid came with three rings of different weights, but I am not sure what these are really for. The mermaids simply didn’t go as deep when we changed to the lighter rings. Overall I was not very impressed with the Magical Mermaid Water Wonderland, with that being said, my 3-year-old LOVES everything about it!
This occupies my daughter for at least a half-hour at a time. For her, it is a tank full of water that she can put the Magical Mermaids in and play pretend stories with them. This makes a huge mess, which is why we keep it outside on our deck. I like that the set comes with two extra batteries. My girls love the set and I do enjoy watching them play. Most of the time is spent making up stories of what the Mermaids are doing and giving them names. The creativity that goes into their stories is pretty amazing. While I was not impressed with the toy my daughters are getting A LOT of playtime out of it.

Thanks for the honest review. We got a similar doll that didn’t perform either.
