I just received a copy of this new book release from author Charles Gilman. The cover of the book features a holographic image of Professor Gargoyle morphing into a monster. Professor Gargoyle is recommended for age level 9 and up and grade level 4 and up. I handed this to my nine-year-old and asked him to read it. He had that whipped out in no time, it was a quick read. He did ask for book #2 and is excited to read the series. Book #2, The Slither Sisters is due to be released January 15, 2013.
Strange things are happening at Lovecraft Middle School. Rats are leaping from lockers. Students are disappearing. The school library is a maze of secret corridors. And the science teacher is acting very peculiar. In fact, he just might be a monster in disguise. Twelve-year-old Robert Arthur knew that seventh grade was going to be weird, but this is ridiculous!
Synopsis from a nine-year-old: Robert goes to Lovecraft Middle School and the only person he knows is the bully, Glenn Torkells. There is a secret corridor in the library that leads to a mansion, and there he meets a girl named Karina and they become friends. But he soon finds out a shocking secret about her. His science teacher, Professor Gargoyle, acts weird and draws rat skeletons. This book has it all: monsters, 2 headed rats, bullies, giant spiders, secret passages, missing students and a gargoyle for a science teacher.
My son’s favorite part in the book is when Robert saves Glenn from the giant locker monster and Glenn goes over to Roberts’s house to have dinner and talk about the mansion because they are now friends.
