If I have to pick my poison, it would be chocolate! I always have a stash somewhere hidden in the house, so the kids won’t eat it, as I am sure most moms in America have (if you do have a secret stash, please leave me a comment so we can stand united!) Anyway, I was chosen to receive some new candy from UnReal and host a little party. Cool Huh!
I received a box of each of their new candy product varieties: Peanut Butter Cup, Candy-Coated Chocolate with Peanuts, Candy-Coated Chocolates, Chocolate Caramel Nougat, and Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat. If you haven’t heard about UnReal, it is candy minus all the junk. It contains NO corn syrup, NO artificial preservatives, NO artificial colors or flavors, and NO hydrogenated oils/fats. It uses REAL cane sugar and REAL milk, contains MORE protein and fiber, and MORE cacao.
Need More Benefits?
Unreal candies have 30% less sugar than the competition. They also have 60% more fiber and 250% more protein than competing brands.
But Does It Taste Good, You Ask?
At our UnReal Party, I conducted an informal kid and parent taste test of the Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat VS. Snickers. Here are some of the feedback that I received for the Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat:
“It is Chunky”
“The chocolate is thicker than the Snickers”
“I can really taste the peanuts and Carmel”
“It is Good”
“These Are Awesome”
Now for the benefits of switching to the Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat, you save 13 grams of sugar, you save 2 grams of fat and you save 80 calories!
We also sampled the Chocolate Caramel Nougat. One of the quotes I heard was, “This is better than a Milky Way!” One thing I noticed as I cut the candy bars was that the chocolate was thicker. The whole candy bar itself was thicker than its counterpart.
While we didn’t taste-test the peanut butter cups, I gave each pack to them as they went outside to play. I do think that most of them ate at least one before heading out, though! I did notice that the chocolate was a bit harder than its counterpart and not as sweet. My oldest snuck one of these before the party and said that you could taste the difference, and he would have to get used to the taste (this as he was shoveling them both in his mouth so I couldn’t take them away!) You do save 10 grams of sugar, though, with the UnReal Brand.
I made goodie bags for the kids to take home, including coated chocolate with peanuts and candy-coated chocolates. I also purchased some savory items to go with the sweet: pretzels and cheese balls. A few days later, several parents contacted me, asking where they could obtain the candy. The kids liked it, and since it was a better product for you, they had to find more! I was glad to hear that!!
The only downside is that because they are made in a facility with peanuts, my peanut-allergic son could not try any of these products.
UnReal Candy costs the same price as its counterparts and is available at CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, BJs, Michaels, Staples, TOP, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, and many other national retail stores.
