Our hardwood floors have definitely seen better days, with all the scratches, dings and dents. I try to mop it at least once a week but you know what a hassle that can be plus trying to find the time, it ends up being a wee bit longer than a week. Well, as part of the Mom Central Team, I was chosen to try out the new Hoover TwinTank Steam Mop.
I was excited to get this because I have not tried steaming the floors or using a machine like this with cleaning solution.
Once it arrived, I pulled it out of the box and assembled it, which was very easy. There were 3 microfiber pads and a resting tray for when it is not in use. It came with a small bottle of cleaning solution so I was ready to go. The first thing I noticed was how long the power cord was, 30 feet. The mop has two tanks, the front for water and one in the back for the solution. The solution control knob has four settings: steam, general clean, spot clean and tough stains. So you are able to either use the solution or steam to clean the floors.
I started out with the solution. The mop was very lite and the swivel head made it easy to get around and in corners. The handle is a trigger system that needs to be held to release the solution or steam which can be made for a tired hand. I have to say I was not impressed with the floors after it dried, the floors were left all sticky and dull. I was so disappointed. So I re-mopped the floors but with the steam this time. It did clean the sticky residue off the floor but the floors were still dull. I did not like the results as compared with the old-fashioned mop and bucket!
