Peaceable Kingdom’s mission is to make good, do good, and be good. They offer stickers, cards, and games for kids that educate, inspire and tickle funny bones.
Hoot Owl Hoot! is an award-winning color-coded cooperative board game. Players help the owls fly back to their nest before the sun comes up. Play a color card and “fly” to that space. Draw a sun card and you’re one step closer to daylight. Help all the owls get home before the sun rises and everyone wins! Two versions allow the game to grow with your child. For a more challenging game, you can use up to six Owl Pieces to move around the board. If the sun comes up before your Owl makes it home, then all the players must start over.
At first glance at the game, I thought how cute. It has cuties little owls fluttering about. I don’t get too many cutesy things in a house full of boys! I sat down to play this with my little one, one afternoon. It does state that it is best for ages 4 and up, my little one will be 4 in a few months. There is no reading required and plays very quickly, in about 15 minutes. That is nice when you have kids that don’t/won’t sit still for very long. It took him a few tries to get the hang of it. He kept wanting to pick cards from the pile. But he did like it! The pieces to the game come in a paper envelope that has been sealed, so you have to tear it open. I do wish that it was a reusable or close-able package to keep all the pieces in. Overall, this is a very fun game.
Peaceable Kingdom offers several other cooperative games too. A cooperative game is a game where all players play together against a common obstacle, not against each other. Which is just what my little one needs, having 2 older brothers to “rough house” and “battle” with. So you can play any Owl piece on your turn, not just your own piece.
Peaceable Kingdom also has a Birthday Kid Club. Just sign your child up and they will send a card (and a little something extra) on your special day! Cool!
