I am a breastfeeding Momma and I’m proud of it! However, with both girls I’ve had production issues and have had to supplement. This time around I’m currently 9 weeks into breastfeeding Sissa and have been having problems nursing for the past 2 weeks. While I have issues with formula {like the staining it leaves on clothes if the ‘lil one spits up} I know that I’ve gotta use it because my squirt isn’t getting enough to eat. Up until this point, I was so thrilled that I was the one allowing her body to grow and gain weight. It’s just such a blessing and an experience I’ll never forget. Also, through my own trials, I’m able to help other Mothers who may have questions with breastfeeding and happy to offer my point of view.

So with my milk production issues, I decided to seek out ways to help stimulate my milk. That’s when I found Earth Mama and I’m so glad I did. I was sent the Organic Milkmaid Tea that’s made from fennel and was super excited to try it out. Now, I will warn ya, you’ve gotta like licorice otherwise you won’t like the tea. Thankfully, I love licorice and made myself some tea! I had to sweeten up a cup of the tea with a teaspoon of sugar and drank my first cup within minutes…hey, it was snowin’ outside and was a great way to sit and watch the snow with Mini Me!

I simply filled a coffee mug up and brought it to a boil in the microwave { I was to lazy to boil water on the stove!}. I placed one tea bag in the cup for about 5-7 minutes and stirred up and displaced the tea bag in the garbage. I then took a few sips and realized I was gonna need to sweeten it up a bit to be able to drink it. So, I added a teaspoon of sugar and I was good to go!

I have used 1/2 the box and have noticed a little difference in my milk production. We have had some reflux issues with Sis and have noticed less of it while using the Earth Mama Organic Milkmaid Tea, which makes me a happy Momma! After about a half hour of drinking the tea, I also feel a sense of calmness. I’m not quite sure if it’s the tea or because I’m relieved I no longer have a crabby patty on my hands!

Sis also seems a lot more content and not so aggravated. After the first feeding, she was calm and relaxed. Usually after a night time feeding she “cluster feeds” and the first night she seemed satisfied with her feeding.

While browsing Earth Mama for tea to get this review together, I came across recipes on their site! Ok, I’m heading into the kitchen to make me another cup 😉

Now with breastfeeding, some Mothers experience engorgement issues and clogged ducts. For me, I have experienced clogged ducts in my right breast.

Once my milk came in {about a week post-pardum} my right breast HURT. Not only did it feel warm to the touch, but, it felt as if there was a lump in my breast. Thankfully, when I was getting fitted for my Bravado bra at Blue Cocoon on Montgomery Road in Cincinnati, OH the owner, Ashley {who is also a NICU nurse and lactation consultant!} reassured me that it wasn’t anything to worry about. I never experienced this with Mini Me and was afraid it was going to lead into something worse. The Earth Mama Booby Tubes have been used numerous times. I have even {accidentally!} left the house with them in and no-one said anything!

I’ve come to the conclusion, for me, my breast feels better when I warm the Booby Tubes and this also has seemed to help with my milk flow that can be a little overwhelming for Sis when they are full.
