I received a great Easter Basket filled with some of PAAS newest Easter products. We had a fun time decorating and seeing who could come up with the Best Egg!
First, let me tell you how you can help the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Heinz Vinegar and PAAS have partnered to bring you the Easter Egg Decorator iPad app (for those who don’t have an iPad, the app can also be accessed online via desktop or laptop computer, links below). Through March 31, when you decorate and share a virtual Easter egg with family and friends using the free app, Heinz and PAAS will donate $1, up to $25,000, to Make-A-Wish®.
This year PAAS has seven new decorating kits, including Volcano Eggsplosion, which uses melted crayon shavings to provide instant color, and Touch of Velvet, a kit that uses double stick adhesives and flocking powder to create fun, fuzzy shapes on your Easter creations. Our first step was to dye the eggs. I especially proud of my two-toned eggs!
For the brightest, most vivid colors, add one tablet and three tablespoons of Heinz Distilled White Vinegar to a PAAS Color Cup or a one-cup container. Once the tablet has dissolved, add ½ cup water and stir gently. Also, to help keep hard-cooked eggs from cracking, add two tablespoons of Heinz Distilled White Vinegar per quart of water before placing the eggs in the pot. The shells will also peel off faster and easier when they’re done.
The first eggs we decorated we used the Touch of Velvet. These were easy to use and they turned out great. The kit comes with two sheets of stickers that you place on the egg (see the white rabbit). The velvet powder can be laid out and then you just roll the adhesive sticker into it. I then used the PAAS Deggorating Doodles (markers) to write Hoppy Easter.
For the Volcano Eggsplosion kit, the eggs need to be hot. This kit comes with crayons and a sharpener, so you can make shavings. Then once the eggs come out of the boiling water you melt the shavings over the eggs to create a tie-dye effect. This kit we are going to save for Easter Brunch.
