Rise of the Guardians DVD Review

Celebrate Easter with this funny new release from Dreamworks, RISE OF THE GUARDIANS. We did not get to see it when it was out in the theater so when my son saw that I received a copy he was excited to watch it.

The story starts out with the creation of Jack, Jack Frost that is. He arises from a pond, finding out that his power to touch something freezes it. Jump to the North Pole 300 years later.

Something funny is going on with Santa’s Tracking Globe which tracks of all the children who believe. A black sand falls upon the globe…it’s Pitch, short for Pitch Black or the Boogie Man!

So Mannie… short for Man In The Moon, calls and gathers all the Guardians: Santa, the Sandman, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, to announce a new Guardian to the team to help fight Pitch, Jack.

As Fear (Pitch) strikes and threatens the children, the Guardians must stop Pitch all while trying to convince Jack that he is a Guardian like them and this job is exactly what he was called to do.

The Guardians are the protectors of wonder, joy and dreams. If the kids have nothing to believe in but fear, the Guardian’s go away, exactly what Pitch wants.

How Will the Guardians make Pitch and the bad dreams go away? Will Jack find what he was meant to do? Will he become a Guardian?

This was a better movie than I was excepting. My son and I have watched it now 4 times in the past 5 days! As soon as he comes home from school he has to watch it. This movie moves at a fast pace which holds his attention. His favorite parts are the scenes with the Yetti’s, the true toy makers! I like the way they depicted Santa, a Russian version of the jolly old man, plus the cute triangle shaped elves.

Rise of the Guardians DVD Review

We had a Rise of the Guardians Super Saturday. I received several awesome goodies from Dreamwork’s like the Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy Pack with limited quantity hopping eggs. In my goodie bag was a water can and flower pot with Forget Me Nots. So my son colored the Sleeve that wraps around the pot and we planted the flowers. This he wants to give to grandma when they bloom. I also received tattoos and an egg holder which was good timing because we just dyed Easter eggs. And his favorite was the nightlight with all the characters on it. He likes that it can be moved around instead of just plugged into the wall.

I’ve seen this movie advertised a lot on the On Demand part of my cable, and was curious to know if it was any good, with all the different characters and the whole good triumphing over evil story. I like the idea that it tells children it’s okay to believe in these characters, and have an imagination for make-believe. I’m happy to hear that your son liked it so much.

Dreamworks surely does put out amazing movies! I have not yet seen this one, but my son will surely bring it home any day! He has quite the collection of their films. Sounds like you and your son have had a lot of fun!
