I always get confused when it comes to humidifiers and when to use warm or cool with the kids, both of which add moisture to the air. Come to find out both provide the same results.
The cool mist can provide relief from common problems like dry skin, cold and flu symptoms, nosebleeds, and dry cough. Cool Mist humidifiers use a safe, cool mist to prevent burns that can result from a child touching a warm mist humidifier. It is always recommended to use cool-mist humidifiers for children. According to The Mayo Clinic, by the time the water vapor reaches your child’s lower airways, it’s the same temperature regardless of whether it started out warm or cool.
I was able to review the Frog Crane Cool Mist Humidifier from Sylvane, the experts in air treatment! The Crane Adorable series offers cute animals like a Dragon, Panda, Tiger, and even Spongebob and Hello Kitty.
We currently have a cool mist, but it is older and requires a filter, the Crane Frog does not. Which is nice not having to purchase replacement filters. Another benefit is that the humidifier automatically turns off when the tank is empty. That way you don’t have to worry about turning it off in the middle of the night when it runs out of water. The tank is capable of holding a gallon of water, and can provide a up to 2.1 gallons of a cool mist daily.
The Frog came in three parts: the base, the water tank and the frog face. The tank was easy to fill, but I do wish that the tank was able to be locked down to the base though to make it easy to carry. Then once the tank is in place, the frog face sits on top. There are two slits behind the eyes for the mist to come out, as you can see the fine mist coming out of the eyes. This was very quite and produced quite a bit of mist! I am glad I finally learn the difference between a cool and warm mist humidifier!
